After a detour through Marseille’s best pastry shops, it was time to dedicate one of our rankings to our favorite chocolatiers in Marseille. As food lovers, we couldn’t pass up the chance to dedicate an entire article to our favorite treat. Whether it’s for Easter, Mother’s Day, or Valentine’s Day, here is our selection of the best chocolatiers in Marseille.
Le Temps d’un chocolat

Located in downtown Marseille, Le Temps D’un Chocolat is considered one of the best chocolatiers in the city. In fact, Claude Krajne, the man behind the chocolate, received the award for France’s best artisan chocolatier from Gault&Millau in 2013. And what earned him this award? Expertise ranging from mastery of traditional cocoa bean-based chocolates to original and innovative creations. Thus, in the shop, alongside vegan bars in a variety of flavors, you’ll find the marshmallow bears from our childhood. Something to please everyone.
Chocolaterie de Puyricard

The excellence of Maison Puyricard is, above all, a family affair. An adventure that began in the Congo with its founders, Marie-Anne and Jan-Guy Roelandts, before taking root in Provence. Now run by their son Tanguy and granddaughter Solène, the chocolate shop has established itself as a benchmark for expertise and craftsmanship. The chocolate that comes out of the workshops is designed as a sensory experience in its own right and delights the palate. Visit one of their three shops in Marseille to sample their sublime creations.
La Maison Leray

What would this ranking of the best chocolatiers in Marseille be without a spot where you can find a bar made in Marseille? And not just any bar, mind you—the one by Michèle Leray, who heads La Maison Leray, a shop opened in 1901 in the Panier district. Although the shop is no longer located in that neighborhood, you can still findthe authentic bar made in Marseille there, still crafted with ancestral know-how and respecting our traditions. For lovers of original flavors, it is also available in a variety of flavors.
L’Espérantine

Looking for delicious chocolates that stand out both for their taste and their shape? L’Espérantine is just what you need. An artisan chocolatier for 20 years, this shop has everything a sweet tooth could dream of. But if they’ve made a name for themselves, it’s above all for one specialty in particular. At the heart of our Provence, their olive branch is made from a masterful blend of dark chocolate and sweet almonds, with a few candied oranges and a center ofextra virgin olive oil. The olive branch—a chocolate that promotes peace!
Maison Hubert – Master Chocolatier

Since 1961, Maison Hubert, located in Marseille’s 4th arrondissement, has been home to four generations of a family passionate about chocolate. Also confectioners, these artisan chocolatiers offer classic chocolates but have also specialized in slightly more traditional creations. La Baleine à Cabosse

Are you familiar with the“bean-to-bar”concept? That’s exactly how La Baleine à Cabosse makes its chocolate: by crafting it from bean to bar. Claire and Aurélien, the brand’s founders, even traveled all the way to Colombia to learn more about the intricacies of chocolate. Orangettes, spreads, or themust-try bars… La Baleine à Cabosse and all its wonders are making our heads spin!
Maison Mistre

Here’s a family business with a delicious taste for chocolate! Behind Maison Mistre are cousins Pauline and Laure Mistre. Both chocolatiers, it was their fathers who passed down to them a love for the cacao bean and the creation of chocolate delights. Building on this inherited family expertise, they have infused their craft with modernity and elegance while keeping the flavors and aromas of their creations intact. At this location, you’ll find treats that are as pleasing to the eye as they are to the palate!
Chocolaterie Signouret

Back in the south—where she has her roots and her family— artisan chocolatier Anne-Lise Signouret has opened her third shop bearing her name. After numerous trips, including one to Peru —the land of cocoa beans—the young woman has acquired genuine expertise over the years. But it is above all her respect for the product and her refusal to use preservatives that make her chocolates a true mark of quality! In her Marseille shop, you’ll find no fewer than 35 chocolate creations. Many products highlight ganache and praline, as well as tangy flavors and sweeter notes…
