Festivals, exhibitions, open-air cinema… It’s a busy autumn for the city of Marseille! To make us forget that summer’s over, in September we’re filling up on activities. And to give you some ideas, Marseille Secrète has put together a selection of things not to be missed!
1. The last outdoor cinema screenings of the “Écrans Sud” festival. September 6, 14, 20, 21 and 27.
Of course, there’s the pleasure of the cinema. But as the temperatures rise and the days lengthen, there’s a certain pleasure to be had in an open-air cinema. As part of the 29th edition of the “Écrans Sud“To mark the occasion, the City Council has decided to offer various open-air cinema screenings at dusk in different locations around the city until September 22, 2023.
2. Great bargains at Marseille’s Grande Braderie. September 7.
Visit Grande Braderie de Marseille – the not-to-be-missed event for bargain seekers – returns to the Phocaean city. Clothes, jewelry, home decor, accessories, food… This Saturday, September 7, from 10am to 7pm, Marseille is reserving more than a dozen pedestrianized streets for a special back-to-school braderie.
3. The final days of the Kouss-Kouss festival are in full swing. Until September 8.
Bluefin tuna, anchovies, mackerel, bonito, sardines. .. At this 7th edition of the Kouss-Kouss festival which runs until September 8, the entire sea is in the spotlight. 4. A magical evening of candlelit concerts to prolong the summer mood
Candlelight concerts Candlelight with a program that’s sure to enchant the whole of Marseilles, we’ll be able to forget the hassles of the autumn season. In September, the Citadelle of Marseille hosts open-air Tribute concerts. Coldplay, Hans Zimmer, ABBA, Vivaldi… Choose your favorite artist and let yourself be carried away by the beauty of these musical evenings.
5. The So Good MAIF Festival is all about laughter and wonder. September 19-21.
From September 19 to 21, 2024, the So Good MAIF Festival will bring together 8,000 people at Friche la Belle de Mai for a day and night of laughter, encounters, creativity, commitment, parties and music. All backed by the voices of committed artists, activists and comedians. Rim’K, Yaelle Naim, Kid Francescoli. .. They’re all here for a crazy day!
6. The Heritage Days are a great way to learn. September 21 and 22.
On September 21 and 22, the city of Marseille will be celebrating. For 2 days, Marseille will be the scene of Heritage Days. The themes for 2024 are “Heritage of routes, networks and connections” and “Maritime heritage”. This 41st edition will open the doors of many historic and cultural buildings in France’s 2nd largest city, free of charge.
7. We’re off to the Foire Internationale de Marseille. September 20 to 30
For this new edition, which will run from September 20 to September 30, 2024, the Foire Internationale de Marseille has pulled out all the stops. Concerts, special women’s days, esport and gaming, gourmet evenings – find out all you need to know about this not-to-be-missed event at Parc Chanot.
8. We discover Marseille’s feminist history. September 28.
In September, the Festival des Sciences Sociales and the Centre Norbert Elias invite you to step back in time and discover the places and women who played a key role in the history of feminism in Marseille. Departure in front of the Odeur du temps bookshop near the Opera (Rue Pavillon, 1st arrondissement) at 11am!
