With Christmas markets, santon fairs, illuminations and skating rinks, Marseille’s Christmas festivities are in full swing. And because there’s no such thing as too many lights in December, Parc Bagatelle is transformed into an enchanted kingdom. Until January 18, head to the heart of the 6ᵉ and 8ᵉ arrondissements, for a fairytale journey under the glow of luminous lanterns. A must-see in the Phocaean city for an outing with family or friends, as soon as night falls.
Illuminated lanterns: a magical journey to the heart of Marseille
Until January 18, families are invited to discover a unique illuminated trail. Every evening, as night falls, the park comes alive and is decked out in its most beautiful lights.
However, far from being a simple Christmas illumination, the Lanternes Lumineuses de Bagatelle are a veritable artistic immersion. The park is transformed into a fairytale world of legendary animals and monumental works of art. Handcrafted by talented artisans, these silk and LED creations transform the night into a living tableau, imbued with light and poetry. Each lantern fills you with wonder, making this stroll a magical experience for young and old alike.
Highlights not to be missed
To go beyond simple contemplation, the Mairie des 6ᵉ et 8ᵉ arrondissements has concocted a program rich in entertainment.
Storytelling walks
To add a touch of poetry, storyteller Jean Guillon invites families to join him at 5pm for storytelling strolls every Wednesday and Saturday. An ideal time to let yourself be transported by enchanting tales set amidst the lights.
Special days for children
Several festive days will be organized for children, with shows and creative workshops, parades, meetings with Santa Claus and karaoke!
And for the more adventurous, Bagatelle also offers a range of fun and sporting activities. Zip-lining and tree-climbing are scheduled on several dates. An excellent way to combine the magic of Christmas with the pleasures of the great outdoors!
