What better way to bring the magic of the festive season to life than at a Christmas market? Set up as early as November, these ephemeral venues are the perfect places to stroll with the family and start buying the gifts that will be patiently waiting under the tree until December 25. Marseille Secrète lists the Christmas markets in and around the city.
1. The Vieux-Port Christmas market
This is probably the most famous Christmas market in the Bouches-du-Rhôneregion . From November 18 to January 5, 2025, some forty chalets will be showcasing Marseille’s savoir-faire. Soaps, candles, jewelry, blown glass, cookies, Christmas decorations, ceramics, paintings, chocolates and wooden toys. Enough to fill up on gift ideas! And, of course, a ride on the Ferris wheel overlooking Marseille!
2. The Santon Fair at the Vieux-Port Christmas Market
As part of the Vieux-Port Christmas Market, which stretches all the way down the Canebière, the santon fair is worthy of its own paragraph in this ranking. In fact, this fair alone represents an ancestral Provencal know-how that could be included in Unesco’s intangible heritage list!
3. The Aix-en-Provence Christmas market
From November 15 to December 31, 2024, downtownAix-en-Provence will be decked out in the enchantment of Christmas. All week long, the Cours Mirabeau welcomes some fifty designer and artisan chalets for the pleasure of young and old alike. Gourmets will also find plenty to tempt them with local products and other gastronomic delights typical of the season!
4. Aubagne’s santon and ceramic market
In Aubagne, too, you can discover beautiful ceramic creations and santons! The perfect place to complete your nativity scene. Come to Cours Foch until December 29 for this authentic traditional Provencal fair. And don’t miss the large panoramic crib!
And if after all these Christmas markets you still haven’t found a present for your January-born friends, why not offer them an experience to share with one of these many Fever gift cards.
