Marseille continues to attract top names: this time, it’s Meteor, the historic Alsatian brewery, which is setting up shop on the Cours Estienne-d’Orves. With 450 seats over 700 m², beers brewed on site and Alsatian cuisine, this new brewery promises to bring a breath of fresh air – and foam – to downtown Marseille.
Meteor in Marseille: the first outside Alsace

Conviviality, dynamism and creativity: this is what made Marseille the first choice for the Alsatian brewery to venture outside its native land. For the first time in its many centuries of existence, the historic brand is leaving Alsace – and it’s to the Vieux-Port that it has decided to set down… its barrels.
Located at 19 cours Honoré-d’Estienne-d’Orves, the new Meteor brasserie covers 700 m² and can accommodate up to 450 guests: 230 inside and 220 on the terrace. It comes with some fifteen varieties of beer brewed on site and a concentration of Northern gastronomy. On the menu: sauerkraut, tarts flambées, knuckle of pork… So many Alsatian flavours celebrated in a convivial atmosphere, without forgetting a nod to the Mediterranean.
The brasserie that brings north and south to the Old Port
Meteor has no intention of simply copying and pasting its Alsatian addresses. While the brasserie in the Vieux-Port retains its roots, it is fully immersed in its new city. On the plate, this translates into Mediterranean touches: tarte flambée with anchovies and olives, falafeland panisses are all on the menu.
The decor follows the same idea, with colors inspired by the South and a fresco by Nhobi. Even the logo gets a local twist, combining Meteor’s emblematic star… with a gabian, of course.
Meteor, France’s oldest brewery
Founded in 1640 in Hochfelden, Alsace, Meteor is the oldest brewery still in operation in France. Proud of its independence, it has upheld a family heritage handed down through eight generations. Anchored in brewing tradition and the promotion of Made in France, the company is also looking to the future. Not least thanks to sustainable commitments such as the introduction of a deposit system for its bottles.
The secret behind Meteor beers? The choice of raw materials. 100% French barley malt, Alsatian hops, analyzed and filtered water, and yeast propagated directly at the brewery before being used to ferment the beer. The result: a wide range of beers, from traditional draught to fruity versions, IPA or alcohol-free options.
