At Marseille Secrète, south American food it’s a real passion. So when we heard that the tenth restaurant in the Tigermilk chain was finally opening its doors in Marseilles, we didn’t hesitate a single second before going to try its wonders!
Tigermilk, a Latin American nugget in the heart of Marseille
It’s only been two weeks since the restaurant opened a stone’s throw from the Old Port, and it’s been packed ever since. Tigermilk, the king of Latin American food that has already conquered Paris, Brussels and Lyon, has just opened its doors in the heart of Marseille at 23 Rue Saint-Saëns. Curious as we are, we had to test the merchandise before telling you about it! And as you can imagine, we weren’t disappointed.
Already, the location is just incredible. The largest Tigermilk to open in Europe to date, with a capacity of 300 people, the Marseille restaurant’s decor plunges you into a fantastic retro universe, halfway between luxury hotel and neighborhood bookshop. A surprisingly colorful blend that works perfectly with the exotic flavors on the menu!
What’s for dinner?
As everything looks succulent, we ask the venue’s manager for his recommendations. This will be the house signature dish: Tigermilk Ceviche with Coco milk, mango, red onions and sweet potato.
In the meantime, and because we’ve made the bold choice to put ourselves on the terrace despite the heatwave (that’s how much we liked it), we refreshed the palate with a delicious lemonade with yuzu purée, white peach and lime. We decided to be reasonable, but if you’re more into cocktails, the mezclalita (made with mezcal), the caipicabana or the strawberry frozen margarita sounded absolutely delicious!
The dishes arrive, and the verdict is in: the ceviche is divine and perfectly mastered, the sweet potato melts in your mouth, and the drink couldn’t be more refreshing. A culinary voyage that takes us straight to Mexico!
Of course, many other options are also available. Cheese nachos, pulled pork tacos or mushroom quesadillas– you’ll find all the continent’s specialties here, in individual dishes or as sides to share. You’ll have to come back to taste them all…
For dessert, there’s a choice of chocolate mousse with a hint of chilli, cheesecake with dulce de leche, brioche perdue and a pavlova that’s perfect for summer. We opt for the former, and end the meal with our stomachs and hearts conquered by this comforting chocolate delight, whatever the season.
And the prices?
As Thibaud Guillois, the venue’s manager, explains to us, the concept is“to be able to offer a dining experience that is accessible, with quality service, 100% homemade food with flavors that make you travel. ” With this in mind, individual dishes cost between 13 and 18 euros, and sides between 5.50 and 7.50. The icing on the cake for parents, Tigermilk even offers a children’s menu for 13 euros!
He continues: “Right from the start, we had the ambition of establishing ourselves on Marseille’s ever-expanding gastronomic scene. Tigermilk’s offer didn’t exist here, so it was perfect. It took us a while, but 5 years after our first opening in Paris, here we are! Next step: London.“
One thing’s for sure, we’re delighted to (finally) welcome him home!
