While in spring it is their neighbors in Cannes who attract the crowds, in winter people come from all over the world to enjoy the spectacular shows and festive atmosphere of the Nice Carnival! It is one of the most famous carnivals in the world and the largest international carnival in France! The concept? Music, dance, colors, and traditions that highlight Mediterranean folklore and Nice culture!
2026 edition: a tribute to great heroines
The 2026 edition, entitled “Long live the queen!“, will be held in Nice from February 11 to March 1. This edition will celebrate femininity! The theme pays tribute to the great heroines of humanity. From science to exploration, literature to crafts, the Nice Carnival will embody both real and fictional women. This is a bold choice after decades of male domination and will raise awareness of the status of women.
We invite you to take the train (2 hours 45 minutes) or your car (2 hours 20 minutes) from Marseille to attend this unmissable event in the South! And maybe even celebrate Valentine’s Day there? After all, nothing is more romanticthan a flower battle!
Highlights of the Nice Carnival

The Battle of Flowers: this is undoubtedly one of the most iconic moments of the Carnival. It is a tradition that dates back to the 19th century and still attracts crowds today. Floats decorated with thousands of flowers parade along the Promenade des Anglais and flowers are thrown to the spectators on either side! For a touch of romance, we invite you to catch one and give it to your Valentine!
The Carnival Parade: day and night, the city offers parades of giant floats inspired by the theme of the year. Accompanied by musicians, dancers, and costumed extras, it’s a truly magical, creative, and friendly spectacle. In the evening, the Carnival takes on an even more spectacular dimension with magical illuminations. Performances by street art troupes and concerts by artists from around the world will be on the program!
The Carnival Village: because the party isn’t just about the parades! The Nice Carnival has its own village. Located in the heart of the city on the Promenade du Paillon, it is open to all and free of charge. On the program: rides, games, participatory workshops, crafts, a food court, and many other surprises. Not to mention two evening events on Thursday, February 19 and 26.
Why is it the most famous carnival in France?

The Nice Carnival attracts more than 200,000 spectators from all over the world! With roots dating back to the 13th century, it is an integral part of the city’s history and culture. Although it has modernized over time (fortunately, plaster confetti is no longer thrown), it has never lost its historical dimension. Today, it brings together more than 1,000 artists— including designers, musicians, technicians, and dancers—for more than two weeks of festivities! It is one of the longest carnivals in France.
A festive event par excellence, it is enhanced by the magnificent setting in which it takes place. With the mild climate of the South of France and facing the Mediterranean Sea, it provides the perfect backdrop for outdoor festivities in a unique atmosphere. Above all, it is accessible to the whole family and children.
