After touching more than 500,000 spectators at several of France’s most emblematic monuments, the immersive LUMINISCENCE show finally comes to Aix-en-Provence in July. On the program: a unique show combining 360-degree digital projections, history, live music and an immersive sound system. Every evening, the majestic Cathedral Saint-Sauveur is revealed in a whole new light.
LUMINISCENCE at Saint-Sauveur Cathedral
LUMINISCENCE‘s brilliant concept is to highlight the richness of France’s architectural heritage through immersive experiences. These sound and light shows are the fruit of unique technological know-how, combining 3D modeling, video projection and an impressive immersive sound system that enhances the exceptional acoustics of the site, to reveal the secrets of these historic monuments with a little extra magic.
France’s most beautiful sacred monuments become the stage for a monumental immersive show. The Cathédrale Saint-Sauveur, built on the site of an ancient forum and listed as a Monument Historique since 1840, is now bathed in LUMINISCENCE light.
Art and technology in the service of heritage
Thanks to 3D modeling of the building, every architectural detail is captured, from the elegant curves of the nave to the vaults and the intricate patterns of the stained glass windows. Using state-of-the-art projectors, this precision creates a video-mapping that follows the architectural structure of the monument down to the last centimeter.
In a harmonious sensory ballet, an immersive sound system plays in sync with the powerful voices of the choristers. Each note is enveloped, the vibrations intensified and the sound criss-crosses the space to the rhythm of the visual projections and narration. The site is sublimated, offering visitors a unique multi-sensory experience.

Captivating storytelling
But LUMINISCENCE is also (and above all) a way of telling a story, and not just any story: the story of the centuries since its construction. Through a breathtaking visual and musical spectacle, the secrets of the most beautiful religious monuments are revealed, from the architectural prowess of their builders to the spellbinding light effects of their stained-glass windows and extraordinary acoustics.
