Ah, the laughs! There’s nothing more exhilarating! Whether alone or with friends, these moments leave their mark on us and, more and more, we seek them out! Anyway, back to the point. Do you all know the blond guy? “Pitchou loulou, hop hop hop! Or the fish? “Ils m’ont défoncé la gueule”… We’re talking, of course, about comedian Gad Elmaleh! He’s made us laugh till we cry, and he’s planning to keep on doing it, but in a new way: with his new comedy club, Le Vig’s! One thing’s for sure: you’ll be pissing yourself laughing.
Why the name?
Why Le Vig’s and not Le Gad’s? Or even Le Maleh’s (very appropriate for times when nobody’s laughing, by the way – it happens even to the best)? This unique venue is named after Vigon, a rhythm and blues singer who marked Gad’s childhood. In doing so, the comedian pays tribute to his Moroccan roots! Beyond the name, the club is also a nod to Marseille-based comedian Elie Kakou, who played an important role in Gad Elmaleh’s career (a portrait of him can be found on the club’s staircase).
What do we do there?

Well, we have a laugh! …But not only that! You can have a drink, eat, have fun, chat (even with the comedians)!
This brand-new comedy club in Marseille (the fourth, to be precise) opened its doors this month, at 15 quai de Rive Neuve. It’s the brainchild of three childhood friends: Gad Elmaleh (of course), William Azoulay and Stéphane Cohen. This establishment embodies friendship and a shared passion for humor. Le Vig’s is a long way from the big concert halls, and boasts an intimate, friendly atmosphere with only 100 seats! You can feel the humor at your fingertips.
Le Vig’s is not just a venue for shows, but also a creative laboratory where comedians can test, exchange and perfect their skills (“we’re not going to keep this one“). The aim? To offer a stage that’s close to the audience, a creative space for comedians, and a veritable gateway for the region’s emerging talent! And there’s a lot of it, because if there’s one thing you can’t take away from the people of Marseilles, it’s their sense of humor!
What’s the program?
“Marseille is an incredible breeding ground for talent, and it was important to give these comedians a stage” – Gad Elmaleh
Every Friday and Saturday, Le Vig’s hosts stand-up shows hosted by local artists, as well as established comedians who come to hone their new shows. Marseilles-based comedian Redouane Bougheraba and the ever-popular Ahmed Sylla are expected to take to the stage, but the club is also keen to give new talent on the local scene a chance.
If you’ve got a sense of humor, now’s your chance to shine!
Vig’s is more than just a comedy club. Gad Elmaleh, in his role as artistic director, wants the space to become a veritable crossroads (not, of course, a supermarket) for up-and-coming comedians. The idea is to organize workshops, open mics and informal get-togethers over coffee to stimulate exchange and creativity!
Let Marseille shine with good jokes!
More and more comedy clubs are popping up in Marseille. We’re told it’s because the best stand-up comedians are in Marseille. Le Garage Comedy, l’Art Dû and the Marseille Comedy Club have paved the way, and now Marseillais will be able to meet up at Vig’s! This proliferation of clubs is helping to create new opportunities for local comedians, and an excellent chance for Marseillais to spend evenings in good spirits, having fun with professional comedians, amateurs and… Marseillais!
So, what’s for laughs tonight?
