If in spring it’s their neighbors from Cannes who draw the crowds, in winter people come from all over the world to attend the grandiose shows and festive atmosphere of the Nice Carnival! Indeed, it’s one of the world’s most famous carnivals, and France’s largest international one! The concept? Music, dance, color and tradition highlight Mediterranean folklore and Nice culture!
What’s in store for 2025?
The 2025 edition, entitled “King of the Oceans “, will be held in Nice from February 14 to March 2. An edition that puts our blue horizon in the spotlight! Indeed, the theme resonates as a tribute to the seas and marine biodiversity. A fitting choice, given the importance of promoting and protecting our blue planet. If you’d like more details, they’ll be revealed a little later by the Carnival organizers, but you can also leave room for surprise!
We invite you to take the train (2h45) or your car (2h20) from Marseille to attend this not-to-be-missed event in the South of France! And maybe even celebrate Valentine’s Day? After all, there’s nothing more romantic than a battle of flowers!
Colorful festivities await you!
Several exceptional events punctuate the Nice Carnival, including the flower battle and the Corsi carnavalesque.
– The Battle of the Flowers: this is undoubtedly one of the most emblematic moments of Carnival. It’s a tradition that dates back to the 19th century and still draws crowds today. Floats decorated with thousands of flowers advance along the Promenade des Anglais, and flowers are thrown to spectators on both sides! For a touch of romance, we invite you to grab one and give it to your Valentine!
– Carnival Corsi: day and night, the city offers parades of giant floats inspired by the year’s theme. In 2025, the theme will be “King of the Oceans”. Accompanied by musicians, dancers and costumed extras, it’s a truly magical, creative and convivial spectacle. In the evening, the Carnival takes on an even more spectacular dimension with magical illuminations. Performances by street art troupes and concerts by artists from all over the world are also on the agenda!
Why is it the most famous in France?
The Nice Carnival attracts over 200,000 spectators from the four corners of the globe! When you think that its roots go back to the 13th century, it’s clear that it’s an integral part of the city’s history and culture. Of course, it has modernized over time, but it has never lost its historical dimension. Today, it mobilizes over 1,000 artists, be they creators, musicians, technicians or dancers, for 18 days of festivities! It’s one of the longest carnivals in France.
Why miss this unique event?
What more could you ask for than a festive international event in a magnificent setting overlooking the Mediterranean?
And even though it’s winter, we remind you that the weather in the South is mild, so you’ll be happy to attend open-air festivities in a unique atmosphere (you might even be able to throw confetti). The big plus of this event is that you can bring the whole family along: children, friends, parents… Young and old alike! And best of all, the city is alive with activity, day and night!
Are you ready to experience one of the world’s finest carnivals? Great times and lots of surprises await you!
