A regressive dessert par excellence, the flan pâtissier was given pride of place on Saturday, October 11, at the first edition of the Concours du Meilleur Flan de Marseille. Organized by Marseille en Bouche , the event saw no fewer than 17 selected addresses enter the competition. On the program: silky textures, vanilla flavors, crispy doughs and lots of good humor to decide between the competing artisans. A sweet competition just the way we like it, under the sun of the Phocaean city!
An original and convivial competition
The tasting took place at the Café du Fort in the heart of the Mucem, in a relaxed, gourmet atmosphere. Between mouthfuls of flan, the jury – made up of Julien, gastronomic influencer for Marseille en Bouche, Benjamin Martinetto flan influencer and star chef Ludovic Turac – had the delicious task of electing the city’s best flans.
After a passionate deliberation around perfect baking and the right balance between cream and pastry, the trio established their top 3 bakeries and patisseries in the running, in addition to awarding a special prize for originality.
